Where UpicT is coming from and going to .... the background and future directions
UpicT emerged from a prototype first run for in-house use in 2003 that comprised a number
of complex manually operated functions amidst automated ones. Each picture took
more than 1 hour to produce on a dedicated mid-range machine, which was less than
satisfactory for many strategies where it might otherwise have been usefully put to work.
The rewrites have gone through a couple of versions, becoming many times more efficient,
more automated, and the latest version 2 equipped with sophisticated slicing functionality.
Expressions of interest are sought to participate in a high-powered fully on-line delivery
mechanism with super-fast unlimited "live" service to a restricted number of discerning
clients -- a service that would be equivalent to the program suite running on a participant's
own computer, and equally available 24/7. For adequate service to be guaranteed to each
participant as described, and at the same time be cost-effective under heavy duty demand
loads (while clearly without much appeal to the public at large), it would be unsuited as an
open speculative venture. The dynamics of the infrastructure need to be determined in
advance, and it is highly unlikely that any opportunity will follow for interested parties to
join after the fact. If the idea appeals to you, please contact us to register your interest at
the earliest opportunity. (The present email delivery service will continue unperturbed by
this, of course, and should remain adequate for lightweight and casual users in appropriate
deployments.) Emails should be sent to
UpicT R-&-D with a subject of "UpicT 3".
The UpicT team brings you a solid practical background in accounting, software, and
general business design and developement, together with post-graduate levels of formal
qualification. The analytical knives which helped cut through weighty layers of
obfuscation to reveal the essentials, and only the essentials, were honed on the stone of
Philosophy -- an approach now repeated day in day out within the engine of UpicT itself
-- while a dissertation on Artificial Intelligence, and the wider principles of modern
Computer Science were decidely constructive in realising the unearthed revelations.
Ground level business acumen has managed to keep the project firmly pegged down to a
practical and non-theory-laden base. In short, UpicT -- The Unearth Pictorial Toolkit --
draws on a healthy mix of diverse proven skills, and has channelled them to meet the
expectations of intelligent investors who value their time.
